ERIE, Pa. – The Fredonia State Women's Soccer Team (8-5-1, 3-2-0 SUNYAC) dropped a 2-0 contest to host Penn State Behrend (13-1-0, 4-0-0 AMCC) on Tuesday night. The Lions entered the game on an eight-game win streak and scored early to extend the streak to nine.
The home team wasted no time getting on the board, converting in the eighth minute. Behrend's Breanna McGuire found the back of the night from the 15-yard mark off an assist from Ava Michael.
One of the Blue Devils best chances came in the second half when
Gabby Alston (Niskayuna, N.Y.) created a breakaway. The forward pulled Behrend's keeper far off of their line, but Alston was unable to convert her chip-in attempt.
The Lions added an insurance goal in the 82
nd minute when Payton Porter finished a rebound off a
Sabrina Suriani (Manlius, N.Y.) save.
Alston was responsible for two of Fredonia's three shots.
Maddie Payne (Buffalo, N.Y.) was credited with the lone shot on goal.
Suriani earned six saves over 90 minutes in net.
Fredonia State returns to action and conference play on Friday, October 15
th at New Paltz.
