CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Fredonia State Women's Soccer team (6-3-1, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) traveled to Cortland on Friday afternoon for their first conference road game. The Blue Devils fell 4-0 to the Red Dragons (6-3-1, 2-1-0 SUNYAC).
 
Cortland utilized four different goal scorers and scored twice in each half. The home team outshot the visitors, 17-10, putting ten of those shots on net.
 
Five of the Blue Devils' ten shots were on goal, two of which coming from Maddie Payne (Buffalo, N.Y.). The freshman's first opportunity came in the first half, striking the ball from the top of the box. Cortland keeper, Lexi Ramonetti had to collect the shot on a second attempt.
 
Partway through the second half, Payne took another chance at net. The Williamsville South grad hit a well-paced ball from 20 yards out, but again found her shot collected by the Red Dragons goaltender.
 
Sabrina Suriani (Manlius, N.Y.) earned the start in net and recorded six saves.
 
Fredonia State travels to Oswego tomorrow, returning to action at 1:00 PM.
