FREDONIA, NY - The Fredonia State men's basketball team fell 88-60 to Brockport on Tuesday evening.
Tyler Roberts had 15 points, and
Chad Biersbach had 13 to pace the Devils.
There were several lead changes in the early going. After eight minutes of play, the Devils would find themselves ahead, 20-19, following a basket by
Marcus Patterson.
Brockport scored the next six points to take the lead for good.
A layup by Biersbach with five minutes to play in the half brought the Devils within four points, 33-29, but that's as close as they would get. Brockport answered back with a 7-0 run. The would go up 45-34 at the half.
All of Biersbach's 13 points came in the first half.
The second half began with a 6-0 Devils run, bringing the score to 45-40.
The score stayed within striking distance until the 11-minute mark when the Golden Eagles snapped off a 13-0 run to go up 74-51 with 6:23 left to play.
Brockport had a decisive advantage at the charity stripe. They got to the line 27 times, converting 19 attempts, while Fredonia State was 7-8.
Five Golden Eagles achieved double-digit scoring. Tyler Collins led the way with 17 points.
Brockport moves to 16-3 overall and 11-1 in the SUNYAC.
Fredonia State drops to 7-12 and 3-10 in the SUNYAC. They travel to Plattsburgh and Potsdam this weekend.
