Cold shooting stalls offense

FREDONIA, NY - The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup to Geneseo by a score of 53-37 on Tuesday evening.

Fredonia State's Heaven Rollek contributed nine points -- all in the second half -- including a pair of three pointers. Morgan Davis led the Devils with seven rebounds. Anna Chiacchia and Morgan Davis added six points apiece. 

Fredonia State opened the game with a 6-2 lead before Geneseo bounced back with an 8-0 run to end the quarter, taking a 10-6 lead.

The Knights kept the pressure on, outscoring the Devils 13-3 in the second to extend the lead to 23-9.  Fredonia went 1-11 from the field over that span. Geneseo ended the half on a 21-3 run. 

The Knights held control of the glass in the first half, pulling down 28 boards compared to Fredonia State's 17. For the game, the Knights held a 43-34 edge on the boards.

Fredonia State improved its shooting in the second half, but so did Geneseo. The Knights outscored the Devils 30-28 in the second.

Geneseo (13-3 / 6-3 SUNYAC) had 11-point performances from Sara Ciotti and Hannah Stockman. Ciotti added eight rebounds.

The Devils fall to 6-10 overall and 2-7 in the SUNYAC. They will be home Friday and Saturday for conference doubleheaders vs. Cortland and Oswego. In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the men will play first and the women will play the nightcap both evenings.
