FREDONIA, NY - The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped an 88-53 game to Cortland on Friday.
Katie Pitcher led the Devils with 12 points and
Anna Chiacchia and
Morgan Davis had six each.
Audrey Craffey had a team-high five rebounds.
The Blue Devils stayed close early on, trailing 14-13 with four minutes left to play in the first quarter. The Red Dragons then took off on a 9-0 run to end the quarter and took that momentum heading into the second.
They outscored Fredonia 19-8 in the second.
Fredonia came out firing in the third quarter, thanks to a hot start from Pitcher, who scored seven points in the first two minutes. Cortland once again caught its stride though, as Beth Bonin had 13 points and a trio of three pointers in the third. She would finish with a game-high 25 points.
Cortland moves to 16-1 on the season with a perfect 10-0 SUNYAC record.
Fredonia State drops to 6-11 with a SUNYAC record of 2-8. They play host to Oswego tomorrow at 4 p.m.
