FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Goals by
Parker Ange and
Cole Teelin carried Fredonia State men's soccer to a 2-1 non-conference win over Nazareth on Tuesday night at University Stadium.
Ange, a freshman, scored his first collegiate goal from a wide angle in the 37th minute. His shot from the right wing found the opposite corner of the net to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead.
The Blue Devils (2-1-2) scored 43 seconds into the second half as Teelin, a sophomore, connected from just inside the 18-yard box. It was also his first goal as a collegian.
Senior goalkeeper
Ty Bentham finished with four saves. The lone blemish against his record was a penalty kick by Nazareth's Jake Adams in the 74th minute.Â
Nazareth goalkeeper Brian Wilkin was credited with,two saves. The loss was the first of the season for the Golden Flyers after four straight wins in which they outscored the opposition, 19-1.
The Blue Devils return to University Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. to take on Grove City. The game is part of a doubleheader preceded by the Fredonia State women vs. Elmira at 1 p.m.
