PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia baseball team struck first, but could not maintain any offensive traction in a 6-2 loss at Plattsburgh on Monday.
Patrick Bigham singled in Russ Mistretta in the first.
Plattsburgh struck back with a pair in the first.
The Devils threatened again in the second with a pair of walks, but a double play erased their chances.
Frewshman relief pitcher
Anthony Kinney took over to start the second inning and tossed seven innings of five-hit ball.
Mistretta had two for the Devils' six hits.
Fredonia now stands at 8-7 in the SUNYAC. They will clinch a playoff spot with a win in this weekend's three-game set in Oswego; if Brockport drops two or three games to Cortland; or if Plattsburgh drops one or more games in the New Paltz series.
