Fredonia falls to Buffalo State in women's lax

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo State rolled to a 23-7 SUNYAC women's lacrosse victory Wednesday and moved into the lead in The Battle by The Lake standings.
 
Samantha Spiess led the Fredonia offense with three goals and one assist. Alli Coon, Kayla Purcell, Alyssa Kissel, and Madeline Haney had one goal each.

Nine Schaefer had eight goals and four assists for Buffalo State, which earned two points and took a 14-13 lead in the Lake Erie Cup standings. The year-long competition between the Blue Devils and Bengals resumes when the softball teams meet at Blue Devil Field for a doubleheader starting at noon Saturday.

Coon, Purcell, and Haney each had two groundballs

The Bengals improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC while the Blue Devils dropped to 3-6 and 0-2.

Fredonia is back in action this Saturday at New Paltz.
