FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia strung together nine straight goals during the first half and pulled away to a 20-10 women's lacrosse win Wednesday over the D'Youville Spartans at University Stadium.
Down 3-1 in the opening minutes, the Blue Devils (3-4) led 10-3 following their outburst which covered just under 14 minutes of playing time.
Alli Coon,
Jen Kershner, and
Madeline Haney had two goals each during the run.
Haney and
Alyssa Kissel led Fredonia's scoring with four goals each while Kershner, Coon, and
Samantha Spiess each had three goals. Goalkeeper
Bridget Carey was credited with nine saves.
Marissa Markott had three goals to lead the Spartans (2-3).
FIELD FACTS
- In addition to having three goals, Spiess had two assists and led in three field categories: draw controls with eight, ground balls with four, and caused turnovers with three.
- Kissell and Haney each had one assist, joining Spiess with five-point games.
- Haney and Kayla Purcell were each credited with six draw controls.

- Spiess was seeing her first action since March 14, 2018. She sat out the rest of her junior season and the first six games of this season while recovering from an injury.
