ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's basketball team dropped a 53-44 road contest at Oneonta on Friday.
Rae White (North Collins, N.Y. / Lake Shore) and
Sydney Turley (Buffalo, N.Y. / Cleveland Hill) each scored 11 points.
Jenna Einink (Westfield, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake) grabbed 14 rebounds and had four assists, while being held to just two points.
The low-scoring affair saw the Devils hit on 27 percent of their shots, while Oneonta connected on 28 percent of its tries for the game.
Oneonta took control in the first period, jumping out to a 19-7 lead. They would continue to outscore the Devils in the second quarter, taking a 31-16 lead into halftime.
Fredonia would outscore the Dragons in the second half, 28-22.
They cut the lead to single digits in the third quarter. A three-point play by Turley cut the lead to nine, 37-28, with 2:24 on the clock. The Devils would get within nine one more time, when
Lauren Mickley nailed a three for the game's final points.
Oneonta (17-4 overall / 11-3 SUNYAC) received a 13-point effort from Alexa Amalbert -- one of only five players to figure in the scoring for the Red Dragons.
The Devils even their conference record at 8-8, and drop to 11-12 overall. They travel to New Paltz on Saturday.
