BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo State claimed a 3-1 SUNYAC men's hockey win over Fredonia on Saturday.
The Blue Devils (11-4-4, 5-3-2 SUNYAC) dug of an early hole for themselves with three straight penalties early in the first period. The Bengals (8-8-2, 5-4-2 SUNYAC) never relinquished the lead after going up 2-0 on power-play goals by Cody Symonds and Jon Colley.
Fredonia's
Victor Tracy scored a power-play goal at 17:14 of the second period on a slapshot from the top of the right circle off a pass by
Charlie Manley (Orchard Park, N.Y.) from the opposite point. The goal was Tracy's seventh of the season and second in two nights.
Andrew Husted scored into an empty net with eight seconds remaining to secure the victory for the Bengals.
The Blue Devils were outshot 30-21 with
Eric Bogart (London, Ont.) making 27 saves. Buffalo State goaltender Connor Minch had 20 saves.
Buffalo State's win was worth one point in the Battle By The Lake series. Fredonia holds a one-point lead, 15 1/2 to 14 1/2.
The Bengals and Blue Devils tied 4-4 on Friday night in Fredonia.
