FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Andrew Husted scored with six seconds left to earn Buffalo State a 4-4 tie with Fredonia in men's hockey Friday at Steele Hall.
Husted scored while the Bengals were skating with a 5-on-3 advantage, aided by two late Fredonia penalties. The Blue Devils were whistled for 10 minor penalties in the game.
Four different players had Fredonia goals: sophomore
Victor Tracy (Danderyd, Sweden), senior
Jimmy Morgan (Highlands Ranch, Col.), senior
Mike Freeman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), and senior
Bobby Polachek (Kingston, Pa.). In addition, junior
Jacob Haynes (Whitby, Ont.) had three assists and junior
Charlie Manley (Orchard Park, N.Y.) had two assists.
Husted had a goal and an assist for Buffalo State to earn the No. 1 star, Haynes earned the No. 2, and Manley the No. 3. Morgan had a goal and assist for Fredonia.
Junior goaltender Anton Rosen (Orsa, Sweden) made 34 saves. His counterpart, Conner Minch, had 26 saves in the Buffalo State net.
The final minutes of the game were marked by high drama, including an apparent Fredonia goal that was waved off, a five-minute major penalty against Buffalo State, a two-minute penalty and game misconduct against the Buffalo State head coach, and the two Fredonia penalties which opened the door to Buffalo State's tying goal.
The tie came on the heels of Fredonia's 4-4 SUNYAC home tie last Tuesday with Brockport and set the stage for Saturday's Fredonia-Buffalo State rematch in Buffalo.
The Blue Devils are 11-3-4 overall and 5-2-2 in the conference while Buffalo State is 7-8-2 and 4-4-2.
