FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Tyler Martin had a goal and an assist to lead Catholic over Fredonia, 2-0, in the men's half of the 2018 Blue Devil Classic at University Stadium.

Martin scored an unassisted goal in the 23rd minute and assisted Jake Nabble in the 70th minute while goalkeeper Jack Long needed to make just one save to earn the shutout for the Cardinals, who improved to 2-1-0.

Fredonia junior goalkeeper Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind.) made five saves and allowed both goals in 78 minutes of duty. Junior midfielder Chad Gilson (Olcott, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Matt Cullen (East Northport, N.Y.) made the all-tournament team.

Buffalo State's Ali Shawish was chosen Classic Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Bengals to two wins and the tournament title.

Fredonia is back in action Tuesday at Nazareth.
