BOXSCORE ERIE, Pa. -- The Fredonia women's tennis team won again in dominating fashion, this time over Penn State Behrend, 9-0. It was the Devils' second straight shutout.
In the No. 2 singles match,
Olivia Miller (Springwater, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) dropped just one game, winning 6-0 and 6-1.
Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) won the No. 1 singles match lost just two games, winning 6-2 and 6-0.
After a close, 6-4 first set victory,
Taylor Marelli (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead ) won the second set, 6-0.
Sarah Bunk (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) won 6-1 and 6-3;
Jane Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) won 6-3 and 6-2; and
Mallory Mecca (Derby, N.Y./Eden) won 6-2, 4-6, and 10-7.
In doubles, Marrelli and
Jane Chiacchia swept their opponent 7-0.
Avril King (Naples, N.Y. / Naples) and Mecca controlled their match, winning 7-1.
Anna Chiacchia and Miller won 7-4.
Fredonia will try to make it four in a row when they travel to Elmira on Friday.
