LAKEWOOD, N.Y. -- The
Fredonia women's tennis team improved to 9-1 with a 7-2 win over
D'Youville on Tuesday. Due to windy and wet conditions, the match was played indoors at the Lakewood YMCA.
D'Youville earned wins at No. 1 doubles and singles. The duo of Gillian
Wittig and Lauren
Karoglan got the better of
Olivia Miller and Anna
Chiacchia, 8-2.
Karoglan took No. 1 singles, 6-3 and 6-2, over
Chiacchia.
No. 4
Mikayla Johnson and No. 6 Taylor
Marelli both won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0.
Sarah Bunk at No. 3 singles, and Jane
Chiacchia at No. 5, both won 6-1 and 6-1.

Miller won the closest match of the day, needing three sets at No. 2 singles. She won 7-6, 2-6, and 10-8.
Bunk and Johnson swept No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Jane
Chiacchia and
Mallory Mecca took No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
D'Youville fell to 4-5 this season.
Fredonia's two seniors, Miller and Mecca, were recognized prior to play. It was the final home match of their collegiate careers.
The Devils continue
SUNYAC play this weekend when they take on Oswego and Cortland.
