OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Fredonia senior
Olivia Miller (Springwater, N.Y. / Wayland-Cohocton) is now the all-time Fredonia career doubles wins-leader following the Blue Devils' 8-1 SUNYAC women's tennis win Friday over Oswego. Miller won for the 23rd time, passing Molly Zanetti (2011-2014) and Stephanie Thompson (2011-2014).
Miller teamed up with
Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg). It was Chiacchia's 22nd career duo win.
Jane Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg) and
Sarah Bunk (Sayville, N.Y. / Sayville) won No. 2 double, 8-5. Oswego's only point came at No. 3 doubles as Erin Vargo and Haru Kobayashi defeated
Taylor Marelli (Riverhead, N.Y. / Riverhead) and
Mallory Mecca (Derby, N.Y. / Eden), 8-7.
Fredonia swept all six singles matches.
Anna Chiacchia and Miller won at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. It was Miller's 36th singles win, extending her school mark in singles.
Bunk won at No. 3 doubles and improved her career mark to 19-1.
Mikayla Johnson (Lakewood, N.Y. / Southwestern),
Jane Chiacchia, and Marelli won their singles matches.
Fredonia improves to 2-1 in the SUNYAC and 10-1 overall. They take on Cortland on Saturday. Oswego fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the SUNYAC.
