ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Fredonia fell to 0-2 in the SUNYAC with a 5-1 men's soccer loss Saturday to the Oneonta Red Dragons.
Oneonta's Witman Hernandez had a natural hattrick in the first half with goals in the 12th, 17th, and 33rd minutes. Alejandro Ruiz and Jeremy Pantoni also scored for the Red Dragons (5-2-2 overall, 2-0-0 SUNYAC).
Sophomore midfielder
Domenic Monti (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) scored Fredonia's lone goal. It came in the 47th minute with an assist from junior forward
Conrad Rathbun (Naples, N.Y./Naples). It was Monti's first goal of the season.
"It was another rough outing," Fredonia Head Coach
P.J. Gondek said, "against a strong, experienced team. Youthful mistakes put us down early. I challenged our team at halftime and we responded well."
The Blue Devils (2-5-1 overall, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) return home for a pair of SUNYACÂ games next weekend: Friday vs. Brockport, Saturday vs. Geneseo.
