CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The SUNY Fredonia women's volleyball team opened SUNYAC Pool Play with a 3-1 victory over Cortland on Friday. The Devils won the first, third, and fourth sets by identical 25-16 scores. They narrowly dropped the second set, 25-23.
Kailey Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) and
SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern) paced the offense with 14 anf 12 kills, respectively.
Brinn Shaughnessy (Apalachin, N.Y. / Owego) added nine kills. Falk and
Emily Jones (Plainfield, Ill. / Joliet Catholic) had three aces apiece.
Amanda Mosack (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) had 40 assists and four aces.
Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) had 23 digs, and Falk and Mosack had 15 each. Jones added four blocks.
Fredonia improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC. Cortland falls to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Devils take on SUNYACÂ foes Brockport and Buffalo State tomorrow in Cortland to conclude pool play..
