NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- New Paltz did all its scoring in the first half Friday and goalkeeper Marc DePasquale had a three-save shutout as Fredonia opened SUNYAC play with a road loss, 2-0.
Manny Flory scored for the sixth time this season early in the sixth minute and Kevin Doorley netted his seventh goal in the 28th minute to turn aside the Blue Devils, who fell to 2-4-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Fredonia junior goalkeeper
Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) made five saves. Three different Blue Devils were credited with one shot-on-goal each.
"The poor start cost us again today," Fredonia Head Coach
P.J. Gondek said. "We came back hard and had them on their heels, but couldn't score. This has been our formula the last few games."
New Paltz improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in SUNYAC. Fredonia's next opponent, Oneonta, is 4-2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference following its 1-0 win Friday over Buffalo State. The Blue Devils visit the Red Dragons at 1 p.m. Saturday.
"We will have our hands full tomorrow," Gondek said, "but I don't expect us to give any less of an effort."
