ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's volleyball team faced perhaps its two toughest opponents of the season so far, and dropped a pair of matches at the Nazareth Invitational on Saturday. They fell 3-1 to both Nazareth and Mount Union.
Against Nazareth, the Devils dropped the first set 25-16 before taking it to the host team, winning 25-9 in the second. Naz regrouped and took the the final two sets, 25-16 and 25-20.
SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern) had 15 kills an
Emma Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) had five blocks.
Amanda Mosack (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) had 34 assists and
Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) had 16 digs.
Kailey Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) turned in an all-around effort, with three aces, three blocks, and 13 digs.
Nazareth improved its record to 8-2.
Against a an undefeated Mount Union squad (13-0), the Devils dropped the first two sets before winning the third, 26-24. The Purple Raiders proved too much, and won the third set 25-20.
Rudny again paced the offense with 15 kills, and
Brinn Shaughnessy (Apalachin, N.Y. / Owego) had 14. Mosack had 44 assists and Aiello added 25 digs.
The Devils' overall record drops to 7-4.
