FREDOINA, N.Y. -- Despite late chances for Fredonia, the devils fell short to Grove City 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Wolverines first goal came in the first minute, when Jon Burton sent a cross into the box that found the head of Christian Caporaso and the back of the net. Â
The Blue Devils responded with a chance from
Ibrahim Doumbia (New York, N.Y. / Business of Sports) who sent a shot from the box that was blocked by a Wolverine defender in the 12th minute.
Grove City's second goal came early in the second half when Jon Burton sent his penalty kick past Fredonia's goalkeeper
Ty Bentham (Columbus Ind. / Columbus North). Bentham finished with 3 saves.
Fredonia's best chances came from
Cole Teelin (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayettville-Manlius) late in the second half. His first chance came when he found himself on a breakaway and sent a shot from the box that was saved Wolverine goalkeeper Luke Greenway. Just 4 minutes later, Teelin found himself in a similar spot in the box, but fired wide to the left.
Fredonia's record now stands at 2-3-1 as their next game will be their first conference game in New Paltz on Friday at 4 PM.Â
