CLERMONT, Fla. –
Katelyn Dennis (Webster, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 and was one of four players with two RBI as Fredonia softball improved to 5-0 with a 12-3 win Tuesday afternoon over U. Mass.-Boston.
Katie Yudin (Liverpool, N.Y.) improved to 3-0 this spring with a complete-game five-inning outing. She also had a hit an one RBI as part of Fredonia's 10-hit attack.
Fredonia meets Transylvania at 7 p.m. in Tuesday's second game at Hancock Park.
The Blue Devils sent 11 batters to the plate during a six-run first inning. Dennis and
Eva FitzSimmons (Fairport, N.Y.) had two-run singles during the uprising. They added two runs in the second to take an 8-0 lead as
Lauren Pixley (Hamburg, N.Y.) and
Emma Isaac (Salamanca, N.Y.) drove in runs.
The Beacons got to Yudin for two runs in the top of the third. Pixley, Isaac, and Yudin had RBI as part of a three-run fourth inning. Yudin then closed out the game with a scoreless fifth, resulting in the game being stopped by the mercy rule.
