FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia dropped to 0-2 following a 21-3 home loss Sunday to Denison.

Casey Villamomez (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) had two goals and Emily Ellis (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) had one for the Blue Devils. It was the first collegiate goal for Ellis, the second and third for Villagomez.

Samantha Spiess (Fairport, N.Y./Penfield) was credited with team-highs with three ground balls and five draw controls.

Claudia Rafi led Dennison with six goals. Kiely Noonan had five goals and two assists. Becca Jones made seven stops in the first half and Hannah Margarian one in the second.

The Big Red, an NCAA Division III tournament team in 2017, was playing its season opener.

Fredonia returns to action next Saturday when it takes on William Smith at University Stadium.
