ALFRED, N.Y. -- Fredonia defeated Alfred, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer Tuesday night.

Junior forward Conrad Rathbun (Naples, N.Y./Naples) scored his first goal of the season when he cleaned up a loose ball in the box in the 63rd minute. Freshman forward Oleg Savka (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) was credited with a save, his first collegiate point.

Freshman goalkeeper William Richardson (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) picked up the win and a shutout in his first collegiate start. He made one save.  

The Blue Devils had a 5-1 shot advantage in the first half and a 12-8 advantage in the game. 

Fredonia improved to 4-6-1 and 2-2-0 in road games. The Blue Devils are back in action Saturday vs. Buffalo State at University Stadium. The SUNYAC game -- also part of the Battle By The Lake series -- starts at 1 p.m.
