BOXSCORE GENESEO, N.Y. -- Despite a double-double from senior Jacque Law (Lime Lake, N.Y. / Pioneer), the Fredonia women's basketball team fell 72-56 at Geneseo on Tuesday. Law finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jenna Einink (Westfield, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake), the reigning SUNYAC Player of the Week, added 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Emily Lasher (Wilson, N.Y. / Wilson) added 10 points off the bench.

Fredonia found themselves up a point at the end of the first quarter, 18-17. Following a layup by Justice Nauden with 1:24 left in the period, Fredonia led 18-13, which would prove to be its biggest lead of the game. Geneseo closed the stanza with the final two buckets.

The second quarter opened slowly. After a layup by Fredonia's Lasher in the opening minute, neither team would score until Geneseo hit a three pointer four-and-a-half minutes into the quarter to tie the game at 20-all. It was the start of what would be a 13-1 run by the Knights that put them up 30-21.

Geneseo finished the half leading 34-28. Law and Einink each had eight points at the break.

Both teams scored 19 points in the third allowing Geneseo to maintain its six-point lead, 53-47.  Fredonia would get within a point with 3:27 left when Law converted a three-point play, making it 43-42.

Geneseo closed out the game outscoring the Devils 19-9 in the fourth quarter. They finished with three players in double digits, led by 22 points from Kelsey Poplawski. Natalie Alfieri had 16, and McKenna Brooks had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Geneseo's biggest statistical advantage was in the turnover department. They committed eight compared to Fredonia's 22. Geneseo won the rebound battle, 44-40, and shot 38 percent from the floor compared to 35 percent for the Devils.

Fredonia falls to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo sits atop the conference with a 6-0 mark, and moves to 11-1 overall.

The women travel to Brockport on Friday, then return home Saturday to face the Geneseo for the second time in five days.
