BOXSCORE GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's basketball team dropped an 87-53 road game to Geneseo on Tuesday.
Ian Helps (Bronx, N.Y. / Greater New York Academy) scored 17 points and
Kay Jackson (Ridgewood, N.Y. / Grover Cleveland) had 10 for the Devils.
Helps opened the game with a jumper, but the Devils' lead would be short lived as Geneseo scored the next five points. A Dante William's three pointer tied the game at 5-all before Geneseo answered with a three from Quinn Carey to take the lead for good.
Geneseo would lead 46-29 by the half. Helps had 13 of his points in the first. Carey had 18 points in the opening half, and finished with a game-high 23.
For the game, Geneseo was on point from the floor all night to the tune of 54 percent shooting, including 11 of 21 from three-point range. Fredonia shot 34 percent. Geneseo also converted 76 percent (16 of 21) from the line compared to 44 percent (7 of 16) for Fredonia. The Knights held a 43-33 edge on the boards.
Geneseo improves to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC. Tommy Eastman had 14 points and 11 rebounds to aid the victors.
The Devils (2-11, 0-7 SUNYAC) travel to Brockport on Friday before returning home on Saturday to take on Geneseo in Dods Hall.
