FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Geneseo used a first-half surge to overtake Fredonia en route a 68-52 SUNYAC men's basketball win Saturday inside Dods Hall.
Tommy Eastman had nine of his game-high 17 points as part of a 24-4 run which turned a 14-11 Fredonia lead into a 35-18 deficit. Eastman also finished with nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Ian Helps (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Blue Devils (2-13 overall, 0-9 SUNYAC) with 15 points plus eight rebounds, while
Isaiah Ice (Bronx, N.Y.) had 10 points. Zack Panebianco added 13 points for the Knights (8-6 overall, 5-3 SUNYAC).
The lead changed six times during the opening minutes with Fredonia taking its largest lead following consecutive baskets by Dante Williams (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Justin Tapper (White Plains, N.Y.), and
De'Quan Smith (Rochester, N.Y.). Geneseo rattled off the next nine points, including five straight by Eastman. He also had a basket during a 12-point run later in the half.
Down by as many as 17 points, Fredonia trimmed the margin to seven, 53-46, on a jumper by Williams, before Geneseo re-established a double-digit lead.
The game marked Fredonia's return to Dods Hall as its home floor after over 30 years at Steele Hall.
