BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Down by as many as 18 points in the third quarter, the Fredonia women's basketball team tied the game late in the fourth quarter before falling to Brockport, 60-55, on Friday.

Following a three pointer by Schuyler Laux, Brockport led 42-24 with 7:41 left in the third quarter for its largest margin of the game.

Fredonia scored the next 13 points with Law accounting for nine over that stretch. A pair of free throws by Brockport's Zaria McCullough broke the string and gave Brockport a 44-37 lead.

At that point, through the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter, Fredonia went on an 8-1 run to tie the game at 45-all following a layup by Chiacchia with 6:51 to go. All told, the Devils used a 21-3 spurt to fight back into the game.

With 20 seconds left to play, Nauden connected on a pair of free throws as the Devils pulled within two, 56-54. However, the Golden Eagles connected on all four free throw opportunities to hang on.

Brockport improved to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in the SUNYAC. Laux led all scorers with 25 and Emily Nestler had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
