ERIE, Pa. -- Fredonia dropped its 2017 women's soccer season opener Friday, 4-0, to Baldwin Wallace at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament.
The youthful Blue Devils were outshot 25-13 and fell victim to bookend goals -- two early in the game and two late.
Baldwin Wallace gained command with two goals in the eighth minute, the first by Kori Miller and the next the Alex Elliott 42 seconds later. Rachel Bender assisted on both goals.Elliott scored her second goal in the 84th minute off a teammate's corner kick. Bender completed the scoring with a goal in the 87th minute.
Fredonia started seven freshmen, including goaltender
Marissa Quimby (Ballston Lake, N.Y. / Shenendehowa), who made 12 saves.
The Blue Devils return to Behrend for a 5 p.m. Saturday game vs. Ithaca, which fell to the host Lions 2-1 on Friday.
