FREDONIA, N.Y. --
Samantha Spiess (Fairport, N.Y.) had seven goals and two assists to lead Fredonia over New Paltz, 15-8, in SUNYAC women's lacrosse Saturday.
Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y.) added three goals and
Katie Miller (Hamburg, N.Y.) had two goals. Yokopovich also collected three ground balls to go along with four draw controls and four caused turnovers.
Jade Williams (Tully, N.Y.) also took four draws while Spiess had three.
Joelle Kadi (Hamburg, N.Y.) collected three ground balls. In addition,
Monica Van Donsel (Cortland, N.Y.) was credited with two assists.
Spiess scored her team's first three goals to give the Blue Devils leads of 2-0 and 3-1. She later had a string of three straight goals in the second half. Defensively,
Nicole Burrows (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) made 10 saves before she was relieved late in the game.
Fredonia's three seniors -- Miller, Kadi, and
Kirsten Green (Ashville, N.Y.) -- were recognized during a pre-game ceremony. They will play their final home game Tuesday when the Blue Devils entertain Geneseo at 4 p.m.
