AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Ciro Frontale's game-winning RBI single in the eighth inning on Wednesday evening lifted Fredonia over RIT, 3-2. It was the senior secondbaseman's third game-winning RBI in two days. Frontale also made a fine defensive play in the final inning. With runners on first and third, Frontale (Syracuse, N.Y./ Bishop Ludden) singled for his fourth hit on the day and second RBI. Derek Fie (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) scored the run for the Devils. Fie had been put in to pinch run for senior Adam Reece (Stratford, ON), who singled to start the inning. Reece finished with a pair of hits.
Matt Wilhelm (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst) came in relief of junior Ryan Landers (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and tossed 5 2/3 innings of one-hit baseball to pick up the win.
Fredonia took a 1-0 lead on a fielder's choice off the bat of Alexio Medina in the first inning.
RIT would take a 2-1 lead in the third. A two-out, based-loaded single plated a pair of runs.
The Devils tied it a 2-2 in the seventh when Frontale singled in James Krolikowski.
