NAZARETH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's basketball team returned to the court after a three-week break, falling 73-47 at Nazareth on Saturday. Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg) led the team with 10 points. Jacque Law (Lime Lake, N.Y. / Pioneer) added 9 points, and Jenna Einink (Westfield, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake) topped the Devils with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

Fredonia led after one quarter, 13-12, after closing out the first on an 11-3 run.

Nazareth scored the first bucket of the second quarter, and would hold the lead the rest of the game.

Nazareth took command of the game in the second, outscoring the Devils 23-8 to take a 35-21 lead into the half.

Fredonia struggled shooting 1 of 10 from three point range, while the Flyers were 12 of 26 (46 percent). From the floor, the Devils shot only 31 percent, while Naz converted 49 percent of its shots. Naz also held a 41-35 edge in rebounds.

Fredonia held a 15-point edge from the free-throw line, going 16 of 26, while Naz was just 1 of 8.

The Flyers (3-5) were led by Samantha Peebles with 19 points, while Lizzie Straub added 15 points.

The Devils fall to 4-7. They are back in action next weekend in Steele Hall when they play host to Potsdam and Plattsburgh as part of a women's/men's doubleheader.
