OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Fredonia and Stevenson played to a 2-2 overtime tie Saturday afternoon in collegiate men's hockey.
After leading 2-0, the Blue Devils (4-7-2) hung on after falling 5-4 Friday in overtime.
The Blue Devils took the lead behind goals by
Jacob Haynes (Whitby, Ont.) and
Hunter Long (Lebanon, Tenn.) and the goaltending of Anton Rosen (Orsa, Sweden).
Haynes scored his third goal in two games – and his sixth of the season – to put Fredonia on top midway through the first period. Long's first goal of the season came during a five-minute power play late in the second period.
Stevenson did all its scoring in the third period. Alfred Panelin-Borg made it 2-1 before Christian Ripley evened the score at 2-2.
The Mustangs (6-5-2), who killed off the better part of the five-minute major, also killed off a minor penalty during the overtime.
Rosen, a freshmen, made 19 saves while making his first collegiate start. Jacob Caffrey made 28 saves for the Mustangs.
The Blue Devils open a four-game homestand when they entertain Western New England at 4 p.m. Friday in the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
