POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's volleyball team lost 3-0 vs. New Paltz, then defeated Plattsburgh, 3-1, on the second day of SUNYAC Pool Play on Saturday.
Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y. / Orchard Park) had 16 kills and
Jane Garrity (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) added 10 in the win over Plattsburgh. Freshman
Amanda Mosack (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) contributed 49 assists.
Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) had five service aces.
Garrity had a team-best three blocks, and Aiello had 28 digs.
The Devils dropped the first set 25-16 before rallying to take the next three.
In the first match of the day, Stanek had 10 kills and
Hallie Christopher (East Amherst, N.Y. / Clarence) had 16 assists.
Courtney Poirier (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) led the defense with 17 digs.
New Paltz claimed the sets by scores of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-21.
The Blue Devils (9-6, 2-1 SUNYAC) are back in action on Tuesday at Medaille College starting at 7:00 p.m.
