FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's soccer team dropped their contest against SUNY Geneseo Saturday afternoon in Fredonia 6-1.

The Blue Devils made a push to get back into the game before the half, but failed to capitalize on a few scoring opportunities. In the 23rd minute, a
Bryan Sibble (Liverpool, N.Y.) free kick was sent into the box leading to a
Brian Theuerkauf (Lancaster, N.Y.) header only to be stopped by a diving Geneseo keeper, Dillon Medd.
Seven minutes later,
Parker Healy (East Aurora, N.Y.) took control and weaved through multiple Geneseo defenders to find a good look at the net, but sent it just over the crossbar.
Geneseo held a 5-0 lead at the half.
Three minutes into the second half,
Bryan Sibble was awarded a penalty kick that was eventually saved by Medd. In the 65th minute, another Sibble free kick was launched and headed by Healy. The ball fell into the lap of senior
Ryan Keller (East Aurora, N.Y.) who buried a goal from right in front of the net to get Fredonia on the scoreboard. Healy was credited with the assist. Keller's goal made it 5-1.
Geneseo's Dean Kousmanidis capped off the scoring with a goal in the 82nd minute.
Despite the score, the Blue Devils led Geneseo in shots (17-16) and corner kicks (8-4).Â
