FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia's three-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday at the hands of the Geneseo Knights, 9-0, on the Steele Hall courts.
The doubles teams of Olivia Miller (Springwater, N.Y. / Wayland-Cohocton) and Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) at first, Chloe Cohen (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) and Halee Dickinson (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) at second, and Phoebe Langdon (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and Christine Thomas (Ransomville, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) were all defeated 8-2.
Miller at first singles fell to her opponent 6-2, 6-2. At second singles, Cohen fell 6-2, 6-1. Chiacchia -- the reigning SUNYAC singles player of the week -- lost her first match of the season 6-2, 6-2 at third singles. Dickinson at fourth came out fighting, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-2. At No. 5, Adriana Speach (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) was defeated 6-0, 6-0. Starting in her first collegiate match, freshman Avril King (Naples, N.Y. / Naples) was defeated 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6..
The Blue Devils are back in action noon Saturday at the Steele Hall Courts when they take on Wells College.
