FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Reeling from the loss of their top scorer, Fredonia fell Tuesday to Geneseo, 8-3, in SUNYAC women's lacrosse.
After the teams traded goals early, the Knighs scored the final three goals of the first half and led the rest of the way.
Monica Van Donsel (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) scored Fredonia's lone goal in the first half.
Katie Miller (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and
Samantha Spiess (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scored in the second half.
Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) was Fredonia's top field player with three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
Jessica Tuttle (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) also had three ground balls while
Nicole Burrows (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was credited with three saves.
Fredonia will play the rest of the season without
Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia), who was injured in the Blue Devils' last game. Her 37 goals and 46 points leads the team.
The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference heading into Saturday's SUNYAC home game vs. Oneonta.
