BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's tennis team lost to Plattsburgh, 5-2, in the opening round Saturday of the SUNYAC Championships at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
The Cardinals won two of three doubles matches and two singles matches to get to the five-win plateau. The remaining two singles matches were suspended.
For Fredonia,
Chloe Cohen (West Hempstead, N.Y. / West Hempstead) and
Halee Dickinson (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-3. Fredonia other points came at No. 1 singles as
Olivia Miller (Springwater, N.Y. / Wayland-Cohocton was a 6-3, 6-1 winner.
Anna Chiacchia, at third singles, and
Chloe Karnisky, at fifth, were leading their matches when play was suspended. Each was up one set -- Chiacchia by a score of 7-6 and Karnisky by 6-2 and leading 5-3 in the second set.
The Devils will look to improve on a 9-3 record when they close the season against Oswego in a consolation match at 8 a.m. Sunday.
