FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Neumann Knights, coming off impressive winsmen's hockey last weekend, take on the Fredonia Blue Devils in a pair of weekend games this weekend.
The Knights (8-4) defeated New England College and host Middlebury to win the Middlebury Tournament. Those wins earned goaltender Tyler Lefebvre a pair of awards -- tournament MVP and ECAC West Goaltender of the Week -- and earned defensman Jake Davidson a place on the D3Hockey's Team of the Week.
The Blue Devils (5-5-2) are playing their first game in nearly a month. They last saw action Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 at home against Daniel Webster.
"Neumann plays a physical, heavy type game," Fredonia head coach
Jeff Meredith said, "and that is the same type game that we will need to play to be successful in our SUNYAC second half so it is key that we play that way."
With no classes in session, the Blue Devils have been practicing twice each day in preparation for this weekend. Game times are 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.
"We have been back a week now and have had very good practices," Meredith said. "We go into the weekend with everyone healthy and rejuvenated from the break."
