FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's basketball team led wire to wire in a 57-29 win over Potsdam on Friday. The Devils improved to 8-3 in the SUNYAC and 13-5 overall.
Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) led the Devils with 10 points and 14 boards for her sixth double-double of the season. Freshman
Jenna Einink (Mayville, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake) added 16 points and 10 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double.
Playmakers
Alexis Cheatham (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport),
Jamie Curry (Wilson, N.Y. / Ransomeville) and
Jacque Law (Machias, N.Y. / Pioneer) combined for 11 assists.
Potsdam (0-10 SUNYAC/1-16 overall) was paced by Abbey LaPage with nine points.
The Devils stymied the Bears defensively, allowing just four points in the opening quarter, leading 13-4. They took a 25-14 lead into the break.
For the game, the Devils outrebound the Bears 54-28, and held them to shooting 19 percent from the floor.
The women take on Plattsburgh Saturday at 2 p.m. in Steele Hall. Saturday will be National Girls and Women in Sports Day, featuring many raffles, a t-shirt give away and the local Fredonia Fire fourth and fifth grade basketball team competing at halftime.
