FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's basketball team pulled away from Potsdam late to claim a 72-64 victory over the visiting Bears. A trio of Devils finished with 13 points --
Ian Helps (Bronx, N.Y. / Greater New York Academy),
Dante Williams (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hutch Tech) and
Kasean Jackson (Ridgewood, N.Y. / Grover Cleveland).
Helps added a game-high 12 rebounds.
Alexander Grace (Bemus Point, N.Y. / Maple Grove) chipped in 12 points, and
Richard De La Cruz (Washington Heights, N.Y. / Norman Thomas) had 10.
Potsdam was led by Joe Estramonte with 14 points and Tyrone Adeyeye with 12.
Fredonia led 34-27 at the break. The Bears crept back into the game and eventually took a 40-39 lead with 14:09 remaining.
With the game tied at 48-all at the 7:33 mark, Grace nailed a three, followed by Helps converting a three-point play to put Fredonia up for good. The Devils made 14 of 20 foul shots over the final 5:15 to ice the game.
Potsdam falls to 1-9 in the SUNYAC and 1-16 overall.
Fredonia (6-12 / 5-6) completed the season sweep of Potsdam, having won 79-69 on January 9th.
The men take on Plattsburgh Saturday at 4 p.m. in Steele Hall.
