GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Fredonia's male divers swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, and
Will Baker (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) won twice on Saturday as the men's swimming and diving team fell to Grove City, 140-157.
Finishing one-two-three-four in both events were
Arron Carlson (LeRoy, N.Y. / Notre Dame),
Rafael Santiago (Middletown, N.Y. / Middletown),
Phil Tubbs (Jamestown, N.Y. / Jamestown), and
Jacob Storms (Owego, N.Y. / Owego). Carlson's top scores were 307.45 in the 1-meter event, and 337.20 in the 3-meter, followed by Santiago's scores of 293.10 and 313.90, respectively.
Baker was the top finisher in both the 100-yard freestyle (49.42) and 200-yard freestyle (1:48.61), while
Troy Lubanski was first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.94). Freshman
Jake Favret (Watertown, N.Y. / Watertown) 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.06).
Lubanski was also second in both the 100-yard backstroke (56.72) and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.29). Other second-place finishers were
Adam Clouthier (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.82),
Bill Bradley (Dunkirk, N.Y. / Dunkirk) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.45), and
Graham Jones in both the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:09.46) and 500-yard freestyle (5:11.82).
Third-place finishers were Bradley in the 100-yard butterfly (55.36),
Ben Chatley (Sanborn, N.Y. / Starpoint) in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:36.50), and
Nathan Link (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.67).
The team will travel to Brockport, N.Y. on Jan. 30 for a meet with the Golden Eagles at 1 p.m.
