COLUMBUS, Ohio – Fredonia's Alexis Moreland (Newfane, N.Y.) scored her third goal in as many games during her team's 5-1 women's soccer loss Sunday to Wittenburg.

With the Blue Devils trailing 2-0, Moreland dribbled through traffic to create shooting space. Her shot from just inside the 18-yard line cut the Blue Devils' deficit in half in the 54^th minute of the non-conference game at Capital University's Bernlohr Stadium.

Wittenburg reestablished its two-goal lead in the 56^th minute on an unassisted goal by Kate Burns. Goals by Nicole Karavakis and Emma Box added to Wittenburg's margin of victory.

Megan Davis and Emma Hawthorn had first-half goals for Wittenburg, in the 19^th minute and 39^th minute, respectively.

Fredonia freshman goalkeeper Kendall Owczarzak (Depew, N.Y.) finished with eight saves. Hannah Wilson had nine saves for Wittenburg.

The Blue Devils were outshot 14-4 in the first half and 24-21 in the game. They had a 7-5 edge in corner kicks. Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y.) was active offensively with eight shots while Moreland had five and Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y.) three.

Wittenburg improved to 2-1 while the loss dropped the Blue Devils to 1-2. They return home to face Penn State Behrend next Friday on the first day of the Blue Devil Classic at University Stadium.
