FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia fell to Penn State Behrend, 3-2, despite two more goals by
Alexis Moreland (Newfane, N.Y.) during Friday's Blue Devil Clarion Hotel Classic.
Moreland scored in the 17th and 31st minutes to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead.
Olivia Belack's goal for Behrend in the 47th minute forged a 2-2 tie before Rachel Weyend scored in the 58th minute when she slid a shot into the far corner after gathing a loose ball which had deflected off a Fredonia defender.
Alex Bilka opened the scoring with a goal in the 12th minute to put Behrend on top, 1-0.
Taylor Troyan made three saves for Behrend while Fredonia freshman
Kendall Owczarzak (Depew, N.Y.) had seven saves.
The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 1-3 heading into Saturday's game vs. Grove City. Game time at University Stadium is 1 p.m.
Penn State Behrend improved to 1-3.
The two goals by Moreland give her five in the first four games this season. In the process, she became the first Fredonia player since 2009 to score at least one goal in four straight games. As Moreland has, Heilweil scored in each of the first four games of the season.
In Friday's other game in the women's half of the Classic, Oswego State edged Grove City, 3-2, on a goal by Audrey Burbidge with 44 seconds left in regulation. The wild ending was preceded by a wild start as the two teams combined for three goals in the opening four minutes.
