Hiram, Ohio – Fredonia's women's volleyball team split matches on the first day of the Hiram Invitational on Friday, defeating Mount St. Joseph before falling to Hiram.
Fredonia put on a dominant performance in the afternoon match against Mount St. Joseph, winning easily in three sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18.
Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) led the way offensively for the Blue Devils with nine kills for a .286 hitting percentage, along with three aces.
Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Athena) put up 29 assists.
In the evening match against Hiram, the Blue Devils took the first two sets before falling to the Terriers in five, 3-2.
Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga, N.Y. / West Seneca East) continued a solid senior year, collecting 23 kills for a .444 hitting percentage, while
Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y. / Orchard Park) had 10 kills and a .188 hitting percentage.
The Blue Devils have matches at 10 a.m. against Marietta, and at 12 p.m. against Kalamazoo.
