FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia women's tennis improved to 2-2 with a 8-1 win Friday vs D'Youville at the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville, N.Y.
Also, the Blue Devils' scheduled Saturday morning
home match  against Delhi was postponed because of rain.
Fredonia's Friday match was led by double winners freshman
Olivia Miller (Springwater, N.Y.) and junior
Chloe Cohen (West Hempstead, N.Y.). After combining for an 8-6 win in first singles, Miller and Cohen scored No. 2 and No. 3 singles wins, respectively. Miller defeated Courtney Fox, 6-0 and 6-0, while Cohen took down Krista Cornell, 6-0 and 6-2.
Meanwhile, freshman
Julia Taboni (Depew, N.Y.) recorded her first collegiate victory, 6-0 and 6-0, over Nicole Giliforte at sixth singles.
Leanne Hofstead (Liverpool, N.Y.), a junior, won her first singles matches of the season, a 6-0 and 6-0 victory over Natalie Douie at the No. 5 spot.
Three Fredonia doubles players earned their first collegiate wins: freshman
Christine Thomas (Ransomville, N.Y.), sophomore
Morgan Henderson (Warsaw, N.Y.), and junior
Stephanie Ashodian (Rochester, N.Y.) . Thomas teamed with
Phoebe Langdon (Syracuse, N.Y.) at No. 2 doubles.
The Blue Devils are back in action Wednesday at Geneseo.
