FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Potsdam emerged with a 2-0 SUNYAC road win Friday over Fredonia during Pink The RInk 2015 at Steele Hall.
Billy Pascalli scored in the first period and Dylan Vander Esch completed the scoring into an empty net in the final minute.
Potsdam goaltender Jon Hall made 38 saves as the Bears improved to 4-5-2 in the SUNYAC and 8-9-3 overall.
Jeff Flagler (Owen Sound, Ont.) also made 38 saves in the Fredonia net. The Blue Devils dropped to 0-8-3 in the conference and 4-11-5 overall.
Pascalli opened the scoring at 4:54 of the first period when he scored off a pass from Tommy Telesca, who had carried the puck along the left side and left a no-look backhanded drop pass for Pascalli.
Both goaltenders turned in several nice saves (Hall earned the No. 1 star and Flager the No. 2) to keep it a one-goal game. With Flagler on the bench in favor of an extra skater,
Vander Esch scored into an empty net with 56 seconds left after Kenny Simon skated up the left boards and passed into the slot.
The Blue Devils wore pink jerseys -- personalized with the names of cancer survivors -- and pink socks while the on-ice officials also wore pink shirts during the annual Pink The Rink event. Upwards of $8,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society.
Fredonia is back at home Saturday when it faces Plattsburgh, while Potsdam travels to Buffalo State.Â
