FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's basketball team dropped a SUNYAC matchup to Oswego, 65-53, on Friday in Steele Hall.
Fredonia was led by freshman
Ian Helps (Bronx, N.Y. / Greater New York Academy) with 11 points. Sophomore
Dante Williams (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hutch Tech) added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman
Luke Hennessy (Olean, N.Y. / Olean) also had eight points.
The Devils fell to 1-12 in conference play and 2-17 overall.Â
Fredonia took an early 6-3 lead before Oswego caught fire. The Lakers rattled off 12-straight points to go up 15-6. Fredonia would battle back with a 12-5 run to make it a two-point game, 20-18 Oswego.
The Lakers ran off another eight straight and would eventually take a 36-24 lead into the half.Â
The teams played an even second half, each scoring 29.
The rebounding advantage went to Oswego, 47-36, as did the turnover battle, 9-12. Fredonia shot 19 of 55 from the field (35 percent) and eight of 13 from the line (62 percent). Oswego shot 35 percent (23 of 65) from the field and 72 percent (13 of 18) from the line. The Devil sank seven shots from long range, compared to six for Oswego.

Oswego (9-3 SUNYAC, 13-6) was paced by Brian Sortino with 29 points, including a trio of three pointers. Kyle Covley added 10 points. Mark Candelario had 11 rebounds.
The Devils take on Cortland tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Steele Hall.
