Devils dealt 4-2 loss by Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- Morrisville State scored twice late in the third period Saturday to defeat Fredonia, 4-2, in SUNYAC men's hockey.

Steve Dol scored on a power play with just under seven minutes left to break a 2-2 tie. Joe Santino scored into an empty net for the Mustangs with 11 seconds left. John Doyle and Robert Molinaro also scored for the Mustangs.

Down 2-0 to start the final period, Stephen Castriota (Bellport, N.Y.) and Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta) scored goals for Fredonia to even the score.It was the 10th goal of the season for Castriota, and his third in two nights, due to a scoring change following the Devils' 5-4 loss Friday.

Jeff Flagler (Owen Sound, Ont.) made 20 saves in the Fredonia net. Mustang goaltender Steven Dombrosky stopped 26 shots.

The loss dropped Fredodnia to 4-10-5 overall, with an 0-7-3 mark in the SUNYAC. Next up is a Friday night home date vs. Potsdam,-- the annual Pink The Rink game at Steele Hall. Details on the presale of Pink The Rink tickets were announced Sunday morning.

NOTES: Castriota was credited with a short-handed goal -- previously credited to teammate Jamie Young (Russell, Ohio) -- in Friday's game vs. the Mustangs. It was the Castriota's second short-hander of the game, his fourth of this season, and eighth as a Blue Devil, which puts him past Craig Conley for second on Fredonia's career list. Conley had seven short-handers from 1991 to 1994, Jeff Lupu is Fredibua's all-time leader with 20 ... Bourne's goal gave his six this season, second on the Blue Devils ... The Blue Devils were 1 of 7 on the power play and 2 of 3 on the penalty kill.
