FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia volleyball team fell to rival Ithaca, 3-0, in their home opener at the Blue Devil Invitational on Friday.
Ithaca took the first set, 25-21. Fredonia would control most of the second set before Ithaca rallied and rode the momentum to victory. Down 23-18, the Bombers rattled off seven straight points to win the second set, 25-23. They took home the final set, 25-20.
Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y. / Orchard Park) led the Devils with nine kills and
Sara Madison (Rochester, N.Y. / Penfield) had seven kills and four service aces. Â
Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Athena) added 26 assists.
Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y. / St. Mary's) was tops with 15 digs.
The loss drops the Devils to 14-4 overall, while Ithaca improves to a lofty 16-1.
Earlier in the day, SUNY Canton dealt Hilbert College a 3-0 loss. Action continues in the four-team tournament on Saturday in Dods Hall with a pair of games at both 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
